Writer's Statement

Madeline Kim is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (Class of 2021) who earned her degree Professional Writing and a minor in Business Administration. She was actively involved in The Tartan, Carnegie Mellon University’s student-run newspaper. There, she serves as the assistant editor for Forum, the opinion section, and a regular contributor.

Her interests range from social justice to politics to contemporary events, as reflected in The Tartan. She further took her experience in the newsroom to work as a temporary publisher for The Young Turks, one of the world’s largest online news networks. This portfolio demonstrates a selection of her pieces, especially those featured in The Tartan.
